Good morning to you,
On Friday I met with a group of friends and we went to The Harrogate Quilt Festival. We were all very excited, as not only were there many quilts waiting to be admired, but there would also be stall holders selling all those wonderful items we quilters need.
I took lots of photographs of quilts and these I thought you would enjoy looking at.
This was my favourite I love the array of colours
And of course I had to include this Union Jack
Lanterns of Memories
This lovely quilt was stitched by my friend and the lanterns were made by using recycled materials.
The following three pieces were entitled
Glimpses of Britain
Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II
No introduction necessary if you were a teenager in the '60's
John, Paul, George and Ringo
The Beatles
Beautiful work
This quilt reminds me of wild cornflowers
swaying in a meadow
These were miniature quilts
they were exquisite
The ladies who created these miniatures are very talented indeed.
This quilt I had to include, I am just sorry that the colour isn't showing as bold as it actually was. In fact it was ruby red thread which was worked in cross stitch. It is also hand quilted and took 4 years to complete. What a work of love.
I love the different blocks on this quilt
....and as autumn is on it's way I thought you would enjoy this quilt with it's autumnal colours.
There were so many, many more quilts being exhibited and these are just a few. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Take care and I will see you later in the week.
Best Wishes
Daphne xxx
What a gorgeous collection of quilts. I admire those people that can do such exquisite work.
ReplyDeleteHello, Daphne
ReplyDeleteI love the variety of quilts you've shown. As I generally think of the more standard designs, it's remarkable to see so many different ones. The tree with all of the birds is stunning.

Hello Karen, I'm so glad you enjoyed the variety of quilts. It would have been easy to have chosen more traditional designs, but I wanted to add some which were a little more quirky. Best Wishes Daphne

DeleteAlthough I don't quilt (my mom does)...I save photos as quilts when I need some inspiration for my art journals...the patterns are always so beautiful. I love the blue wildflower one pictured here.
ReplyDeleteHello Danielle, you share the same name as our youngest daughter. I'm glad you found the photos useful. I'm always looking out for inspiration. Although I do make quilts, I find I am becoming more creative, and am incorporating beads, embroidery threads, ribbons, sequins, Indian mirrors, etc in my work. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Best Wishes Daphne

ReplyDeleteWhat amazing quilts! I have never been to a quilt show. It sure looks like you had a wonderful day. My favorite is the autumn quilt with its lovely fall colors.
Hello Donna, yes the quilts were wonderful, I just wish I could have shown you more as there were so many to chose from. The autumn coloured quilt reminded me that autumn was just around the corner. Best Wishes Daphne
DeleteThey are all such beautiful quilts, Daphne! I am always amazed by the creativity of quilters and the new designs they create. My daughter is a big beatles fan and would love the one of John, Paul, George, Ringo.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Pat, The Beatles wall hanging was lovely, with so much detail. I was a great fan of the Beatles in the 60's and used to have their posters on my bedroom wall. I wonder, do teenagers still do that?
DeleteGood luck with your move, you sound as if you are well on your way with the decluttering. Best Wishes Daphne
